About Us
Scientific Scientist is a research based hands-on learning program that allows students to explore marine science, coastal ecology and basic biology. Campers will learn how to collect and care for coastal animals and plants. Campers will also learn scientific field techniques and visit local museums.
Our scientific scientist program covers such diverse but related topics as: oceanography, marine biology, conservation, and ecology. The course concentrates on South Florida’s marine environment: coral reefs, sea salt, and the Everglades. Students learn how waves, tides, and currents affect the health and vitality of marine creatures living in and around these sensitive ecosystems. In these areas of research, students develop problem-solving skills as they create new knowledge and address topics of societal relevance.
To complete their research, students routinely spend considerable time in the field and in state-of-the-science analytical and computer laboratories, thereby developing the skills required to become a “scientific scientist”.
